Maersk Drilling Rigs picked up work from CNOOC, Petrogas, and Total

Denmark based offshore drilling contractor ‘Maersk Drilling’ has managed to secure more work for its jack-up rigs and a drillship with oil majors in Africa and UK, respectively

Maersk Drilling in its latest fleet status report stated that, CNOOC Petroleum Europe has exercised a one-well option for Maersk Innovator in direct continuation of the rig’s current work scope of drilling infill wells at the Buzzard field in the UK.

Work is expected commencement in Q1 2020 and runs until June 2020. Contractor also confirmed that, six one-well options remain for its jack-up.

Earlier in June, CNOOC exercised a one-well, approx. 100 Days, extension option for the Mærsk Innovator jack-up rig at the Buzzard field, UK Continental Shelf.

2003 built Mærsk Innovator is a CJ70 ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig designed for year-round operations in the North Sea. , will be busy till February 2020 for the current extension.

Maersk Resilient awarded two contracts. 2008 Keppel FELS built jack-up rig ‘Maersk Resilient’ is capable to work in 350 ft water depth is a Gusto-engineered MSC CJ50 rig with design optimization inputs from Maersk Drilling. The rig can drill up to 30,000 ft. The rig can accommodate 120 people.

Rig is picked up for one-well contract with Petrogas E&P in the UK with an estimated duration of 70 days. The contract is expected to commence in March 2020 and has a firm value of approximately U$ 7.6 million.

In September, IOG discovered gas reserves at Harvey appraisal well using Maersk Resilient.

Maersk Resilient’s second contract signed for one subsea-development well with Serica Energy UK in the UK with an estimated duration of 70 days.

The contract is expected to commence in Q4 2020 and has a firm value of approximately U$ 8 million.

According to offshore drilling contractor, Maersk Voyager received a conditional letter of award for a three-well exploration campaign with Total E&P in Angola and Namibia, plus an additional two one-well options, with expected commencement at the end of 2019.

The Maersk Voyager is a Samsung 96K designed drillship with several Maersk Drilling upgrades.

Maersk Voyager previous engagement was with Eni in Ghana, where Eni discovered Gas from Akoma well in CTP-Block 4.

Earlier this month, ‘Kosmos Energy’ along with partners has made an oil discovery from its S-5 well offshore Equatorial Guinea, using Maersk Voyager.

The total value of contracts and extensions awarded to Maersk Drilling in Q3 2019 was U$ 103 million. As of 30 September 2019, the contract backlog amounted to U$  2.2 billion.
